We decided to give more responsibility to our sixth formers and they now have their own company with CEO’s at the top and a board of directors in charge of the committees.

This year for the first time we have held elections for our Chief Executive Officers and their deputies. Then we set up the four Committees;

  • Publicity and Media Committee
  • Social Committee
  • Community Projects Committee
  • Leadership Projects Committee

They have a variety of activities that they can be involved in including promotional work, organising the school council, mentoring students and representing the school as an ambassador. There are many opportunities during the year to participate in events. We had the Pearl of Africa visiting the school and every year we support Comic/Sports relief and Children in Need. Many lads often get sponsored to have their legs waxed for charity! Ouch! In the summer we have activity days out, last time we went to Siblyback to do archery, an assault course and sailing.

The Sixth Form Summer Ball was held at St Mellion International Resort for a final farewell to year 13, with year 12 also in attendance.  The Belle of the ball was Hannah Poulson and the Beau Jordan Cornish.  A delicious meal was followed by dancing and an enjoyable evening was had by all.

At Christmas we always have a fancy dress party to celebrate the end of the first term. The theme this year was Film and TV characters. Teachers and students alike dress up and have a laugh before the final studies and hard work leading up to the summer exams.

Six students from Year 12 AS Business Studies entered the Risk Business Challenge at Plymouth University on the 20th June competing against other schools from Devon and Cornwall.  They did exceptionally well and came in as close runners up.  The students were Briony Difford, Alice Mackonockie, Georgie Ryder, Keiren Sutton , Andrew Lavers and Corey Maslen-Richards.

Mrs Prichard and Mr Gray took six students; Liam Hunt, Lewis Boobier, Andy Boney, Alice Mackonochie, Rory Livermore and Ben Johnson to St Annes College Oxford on the 25th and 26th June for their Open Day.  Students were given short lectures by the Principal, Admissions guidance from the College Admissions Tutor and tours and discussions with students and lecturers.

On our school sports day all the year 12 were involved in some way or another. We had some students who acted as officials, others led activities and the more energetic actually took part. This is just one aspect where our students integrate with the rest of the school.
