Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this finds you well. I must say it has been lovely to see a bit more normality in school with students moving around the site and benefitting from being able to access the whole school. It has also been great to see some of the clubs re-starting this week (see below for more details). Extra-curricular activities are an essential part of education and I would encourage all students to take advantage as much as possible.

Dear Parent/Carer,

Extra-curricular Clubs

Due to the rising levels of vaccinations and low infection rates locally and nationally, we are now able to restart some of our extra-curricular clubs. We will send out a programme of PE clubs shortly and hope to update it further with more clubs soon after.

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this finds you well and that you enjoyed a lovely Easter. I have a couple of updates for you in preparation for our return on Monday - I'd be grateful if you could share these with your son/daughter.

Staffing Update

We said farewell to Mr Trudgett and Ms Inger at the end of term, so now we welcome Ms Browning and Ms Bodkin to our science department. Ms Browning, you may well remember, left us last Easter to go travelling, but for obvious reasons wasn't able to fulfil her plans. We are delighted she is able to re-join us. Ms Bodkin joins us as a chemistry specialist from a very high performing school and will be a real asset to the team. Mr Broad (former Liskeard student) has been appointed as our new Head of Science, but won't be starting until September. In the meantime, Mr Inger is stepping up as Acting Head of Science for the remainder of the academic year.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Team Liskeard

What a strange and, at times, difficult term. In the last three months we have navigated our way through Lockdown 3, with teachers and students learning how to use Microsoft Teams; we've welcomed students back into school through our re-connect meetings; we've been re-establishing our routines and expectations and re-building students' confidence; students have learnt how to test themselves for Covid; teachers have been working out how to ensure the grades to be awarded for GCSEs and A Levels will be fair for all; we've held virtual parents' evenings, and, of course, we have been continuing to promote and recognise courage, resilience and kindness whenever we can.

Dear Parents and Carers of Year 11 and Year 13 Students,

This year, as you know, GCSE and A level examinations have been cancelled and your child will be awarded a grade based on a system set out by the Department for Education and the Examination Boards.

In this letter we hope to explain how this process will work and we invite you to please email us with any further questions that you may have at GCSE and A level examinations are a major milestone in your child’s life and it is important that the whole process is conducted fairly and with the correct gravitas.
