Dear Parents/Carers,

Another half-term seems to have flown by. It has been a very busy one gathering the final pieces of evidence to ensure all of our Y11 and Y13 students get the grades they deserve. I must thank all of our teachers for the additional work this has created and their professionalism in how they have handled the process. A special thanks to Mrs Penberthy for overseeing this huge task. Congratulations needs to go to the students for the way they have approached their final tests and the resilience they have shown throughout these last months. It has been a very emotional day saying farewell to them today. Mrs Dove, Head of Year 11, is also saying 'au revoir' as she goes on maternity leave next week. We wish her all the best.

Breaks and Lunches

It has been lovely to see the school return to more of a normal routine these last few weeks. With the departure of Y11 and Y13, we are now able to return to a normal timetable, with all students having breaks and lunch at the same time. Each year group will still have their own social space and will use one of the two canteens at their assigned time slot.

Changing for PE

Due to the lower numbers of students in school and with infection rates still very low in the local area, we have decided that after half-term students will return to getting changed for their PE lessons. This gives us greater flexibility with the activities we can run during PE lessons and prevents students from having to walk around school in sweaty kit or wet from the rain. Currently, we only have a small number of lockers available for students to store their kit. We will prioritise these for students with specific need and for Y10 students who study Art/Textiles/Photography on PE days (as they may have their portfolios to carry as well).

Free School Meal Vouchers Over Half-Term

The local authority has stepped in on Thursday night to facilitate free school meal vouchers to eligible families through a Covid Grant Scheme. These will be electronically issued via Wonde.  Please note due to the tight timeline, they may not be received by families until Tuesday 1st June 2021. Should a voucher fail to be received during the ½ term week, please let the school know on return (07th June 2021) and we will remedy any issues.

Skirts and Jewellery

We continue to have issues with some students wearing clingy skirts. After half-term I will have to insist that students who continue to wear them will be required to wear trousers from there on in.  Please could you also remind students that jewellery (other than 1 pair of stud earrings) will be confiscated if worn.

INSET Day - 21st June

Don't forget we have our re-scheduled INSET Day on Monday 21st June, so there will be no school for students.

Thank you again for your on-going support.
