I am a part of a group called The Wombles run by Miss Oldham and we help the environment. Recently we have been doing an event called ‘Lose Your Bottle’ where you recycle your plastic bottles and we are trying to get more people to recycle because we really want to help the environment.

Producing plastic bottles from raw materials uses resources and is energy intensive. By re-using and recycling plastic bottles as much as we can, we can help to conserve natural resources such as oil.

Plastic is either melted down directly and formed into its new shape or flaked and then melted down. A wide range of products can be made from recycled plastic including new plastic bottles, garden furniture, water butts, compost bins, fleece jackets and jumpers. In fact, it only takes twenty five two litre plastic bottles to make an adult’s fleece.
