Student Leadership Award

YEAR 7 - LEVEL 1

To gain the Level 1 Certificate you need to complete 10 challenges!

  • Prepare and present Newswatch to your tutor group
  • Take part in a charity event
  • Attend a lunchtime or after school club for six sessions
  • Represent the school in a sport or at an event three times
  • Achieve 90+ merits
  • Achieve all 1’s for attitude in a progress check
  • Have no lates for 2 terms
  • Achieve 97.5% attendance for 2 terms
  • Hold a student leadership position for a minimum of 2 terms
  • Perform in a band / musical group at a school event.
  • Take part in a school production
  • Be a proactive tutor rep or whole school council rep (take notes; feedback to group)
  • Volunteer to litter pick around the school at lunchtime for a week in the Autumn term and a week in the Spring term.
  • Take part in a public speaking competition
  • Take part in an assembly
  • Be nominated for an award at Awards Evening or receive a
  • Faculty End of Year Award in assembly

 

YEAR 8 - LEVEL 2

To gain the Level 2 Certificate you need to complete 10 challenges!

  • Prepare and present Newswatch to your tutor group
  • Raise over £25 for a charity of your choice
  • Attend an after school club for six sessions
  • Represent the school in a sport or at an event three times
  • Achieve 90+ merits
  • Have no lates for 2 terms
  • Achieve all 1’s for attitude in a progress check
  • Achieve over 97.5% attendance for 2 terms
  • Hold a student leadership position for a minimum of 2 terms
  • Perform in a band / musical group at a school event or take part in a school production
  • Be a proactive tutor rep or whole school council rep (take notes; feedback to group)

YEAR 9 - BRONZE AWARD

To gain the Bronze Certificate you need to complete 10 challenges!

  • Prepare and present Newswatch to your tutor group
  • Raise over £40 for a charity of your choice
  • Attend an after school club for six sessions
  • Represent the school in a sport or at an event three times
  • Achieve 70+ merits
  • Have no more than 3 lates for 2 terms
  • Help out at a school event eg: Open Evening; Parents Evening
  • Achieve an overall score of above zero on your Progress Check
  • Achieve over 97.5% attendance for 2 terms
  • Hold a student leadership position for a minimum of 2 terms
  • Perform in a band / musical group at a school event or take part in a school production
  • Be a proactive tutor rep or whole school council rep (take notes; feedback to group)
  • Organise your own Take Your Child to Work placement by the deadline set
  • Give up three of your lunchtimes to help a member of staff
  • Be nominated for an award at Awards Evening or receive a
  • Faculty End of Year Award in assembly

 

YEAR 10 - SILVER AWARD

To gain the Level 1 Certificate you need to complete 10 challenges!

  • Prepare and present Newswatch to your tutor group
  • Take part in a charity event
  • Attend a lunchtime or after school club for six sessions
  • Represent the school in a sport or at an event three times
  • Achieve 90+ merits
  • Achieve all 1’s for attitude in a progress check

YEAR 11 - GOLD AWARD

To gain the Gold Certificate you need to complete 10 challenges!

  • Work towards gaining an additional qualification eg: GCSE Astronomy;
  • Sports Leadership; Music qualifications
  • Raise over £60 for a charity of your choice
  • Attend an after school club for six sessions
  • Represent the school in a sport or at an event three times
  • Attend at least 15 after school / lunchtime or whole day revision sessions.
  • Be a Maths Peer Mentor
  • Achieve 60+ merits
  • Have no lates for 2 terms
  • Achieve an average attitude score of + 1 on your Progress Check
  • Achieve an overall achievement score of above zero on your Progress Check
  • Achieve over 95% attendance for 2 terms
  • Hold a student leadership position for a minimum of 2 terms
  • Make a positive contribution towards a Year 11 event eg: Prom; Year Book
  • Attend a Higher Education Event
  • Be nominated for an award at Awards Evening or receive a Faculty End of Year Award in assembly

 

HOW TO RECEIVE YOUR AWARD

  • In the back of your planner you will find a Student
  • Leadership Award Card with the challenges on it relevant to your year group.
  • When you complete a challenge obtain a signature from an adult to prove that you have completed it.
  • Once you have completed the number of challenges necessary to achieve the award show your card to your tutor.
  • Your tutor then needs to email Miss Birkbeck after which time you will receive your certificate in assembly.
