A’Level PE is a course that combines the theory and practical elements of sports performance,coaching, umpiring and leading. You will have the opportunity to learn about what affects an athlete physiologically, psychologically and socially. You will also receive credit for how able you are practically. If you love sport and exercise then this is the cause for you.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You need to have a genuine interest in sport and a good level of practical ability as well as a determined attitude and the ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
Students should also possess a good pass grade in GCSE PE (or C grades in GCSE Science) and play sport on a regular basis outside of school.

 

COURSE DETAILS

The course is made up of 4 Units and is both practical and theory in nature.

 

THE COURSE:

G451 - An Introduction to Physical Education (30% - 2hr exam).

G452 - Acquiring, developing + evaluating practical skills in Phys Education (20%).

G453 - Principles + concepts across different areas of Phys Ed (35% - 2.5hr exam).

G454 -The Improvement of effective performance + the critical evaluation of practical activities in Physical Education (15%).

 

FURTHER EDUCATION AND CAREERS

PE is a highly valued A’Level which enables students to take a wide variety of courses at university from Medicine and Law to the Arts. Many students who choose PE go on to pursue careers in the Leisure Industry, Physiotherapy, Teaching, Coaching, The Armed Forces, Sports Journalism, and the Police.

 

RESULTS

We are pleased to boast a 100% pass rate at both AS and A2. In the A2 levels taken last summer all of our students achieved their best grade, or equivalent, in this subject.
