Free School Meals

Liskeard School believes that when children eat better, they achieve better. Whether families are paying for school meals or are entitled to them for free, children are more likely to concentrate in the classroom in the afternoon after eating healthy school lunches.  This also improves their health and their learning about making better food choices.

Information to parents/carers is available via This page has also been established as a central point for schools for all matters relating to school meals.

Did you know that by signing up for a free school meal, the school gets more funds for your child's education? In these economic times, we recognise that some of you may not realise that you could be entitled to free school meals for your children. To apply please visit

Take 3 is a programme in two parts for parents of young people aged between 10 and 18.  It was originally developed to support parents of at-risk or vulnerable young people whose challenging behaviour was causing problems for parents and/or the community, though it can be used with any group of parents.  Part one is a basic course of 10 “core” units and part two has 10 optional sessions focusing on specific issues.  The “Three” of the title refers to the three vital elements of effective parenting:

  • Nurture
  • Structure
  • Self Care

It also refers to breathing techniques that the course teaches to help a parent stay calm in stressful situations.
