We were fortunate to have Professor Phippen from Plymouth university visit and spend 2 hours providing a lecture and tutorial on Technology.  He discussed the use of social media, such as Facebook and Twitter and how they are used as business tools.  He also discussed the impacts of globalisation on emerging markets to my our A Level Business Studies class.  This was great preparation for their final exam and also an opportunity to discuss studying Business at Higher Education level.

Liskeard School has recently introduced a Rag Bag recycling centre on the school premises with thanks to the Liskeard School Friends’ Co-operative. A metal bin has been placed in the car park outside the school reception for the recycling of clothes and shoes. The bin has been placed specifically to enable the local community to recycle their unwanted items with textiles being recycled into useful items or sent to Africa and other developing nations.

COUNTY CHAMPIONS! We beat Truro School in the final 2-1 after extra time.

Liskeard School held its first Safer Internet Day to encourage responsible use of the Internet. The day was a huge success with many students engaging in discussion and activities. Safer Internet Day is organized by Insafe to promote safer use of all online technology. It runs on the second day of the second week of the second month and is now on its eleventh year.

Liskeard School set off to Penair for an eleven-a-side tournament with high hopes. The first game was against Truro and Liskeard’s confidence was a bit low as they hadn’t faired too well against Truro in previous years. Liskeard held their ground and after a demanding first half it was level at the break. For the remainder of the second half it was pretty calm until the last two minutes when Truro won a penalty flick from the ball being stuck under the keeper’s foot. The ball was struck towards goal and the Liskeard keeper lunged out to make the save but couldn’t connect with the ball which rebounded off the post only to be slotted home from the follow up. Liskeard challenged this as the goal shouldn’t have counted as no one had touched the ball from the original penalty flick. The goal was therefore disallowed and the game finished level.
