Liskeard School Sixth Form have been working closely with Exeter University to increase the political interest of young people and to improve their understanding of our political system. We have delivered a series of activities which has also involved Skyping the House of Lords and inviting local councillors and members of parliament in for a Q&A session.

Gill Prichard, Director of Sixth Form, said, “This has been a really interesting project. Both staff and students have really enjoyed looking at various aspects of politics.”

Students posed a series of questions to the Deputy Speaker Lord McFall when he spoke to us via the internet from his chambers. We also hosted a lively debate with local councillors and our MP Sheryll Murray.

Josh Conway, Sixth Form student, said “It’s always great to have a variety of political positions represented in Liskeard. We really appreciated the chance to query Sheryll Murray and learn about her views.”
