Once again the Science Department at Liskeard School and Community College have embraced National Science and Engineering Week in spectacular style with their annual Science Show. Mr Trudgett and Mr Inger presented a two hour long show which was dynamic and interesting and featured lots of new experiments such as the rainbow flames and elephant’s toothpaste alongside some of our regular favourites.

The pair started on the theme of Energy by demonstrating the effects of cooling using liquid Nitrogen. Several lucky audience members were able to try a cryogenically frozen wotsit or some ice-cream made with liquid Nitrogen.

Mr Inger then carried out a dissection of an Ox heart and at the end of the show, invited audience members to come up for a closer look where they were able to ask lots of questions!

The Science team at Liskeard School are passionate about sharing their interest in science and this year was no exception; parents and students alike were able to get up close to experiments which would not be possible in the classroom or at home.

One student from a local primary school said the show was ‘interesting, entertaining and educational!’ whilst another parent said that it was ‘really good to be able to get into school and think about how we can talk about Science at home’.
