Students from across SMART (South East Cornwall Multi Academy Regional Trust) will have the fantastic opportunity to audition for the prestigious National Youth Theatre when the organisation visits Liskeard School and Community College in February.

The school will host a daylong audition, with students from Liskeard School joined by those from community school and Looe Community Academy, as well as members of community groups from the local area.

Those auditioning will have to prepare an appropriate monologue from a published play, in the hope of impressing the judging National Youth Theatre practitioners. Successful students will be invited to attend one of the National Youth Theatre’s acting courses, helping to open doors to the industry.

The National Youth Theatre will also be hosting a workshop at Liskeard School at the end of January, where attendees will develop their skills and learn from the best.

Head of Drama at Liskeard School, Mrs Kerensa Crawshaw, believes the visits present a great chance for those attending.

“This will give students a really valuable experience in auditioning, as many of them will wish to perhaps study drama in the future, at degree level and so on.  Students who audition successfully will then have the opportunity to perform with the National Youth Theatre in London in July,” she said.
