Liskeard School and Community College ran its first Duke of Edinburgh Award Presentation Evening on Wednesday 12th December, bringing together friends, family and staff to present twenty-seven students with their Bronze Award.

This represents their successful completion of the Physical, Skill, Volunteering and Expedition sections of the award and is a testament to these young people’s commitment and willingness to develop and contribute across a whole range of areas.

The successful students are the first batch of Bronze Award completers since the school started running DofE in September 2017.  Thanks to the organisation’s support and generous funding from the Diamond Jubilee Fund, the school is continuing to grow DofE with over twenty students moving on to embark on the Silver Award and over thirty new participants signing up for the Bronze Award this year.

Bronze Award completer, Kensa Bennallick said that achieving the Bronze award had been tough, but it was well worth it.

“I’m really proud to have achieved my Bronze Award.  It was hard to stick at it at times but it’s been a lot of fun and I would recommend doing it to everyone.  I really enjoyed the expedition,” she said.

Mr Lingard, Head teacher, said:

“The values of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award fit completely with our ethos and view of education at Liskeard School.  The Award is a great achievement to go on future application forms for jobs and universities, but more importantly it helps young people to push themselves, find new opportunities and to develop resilience for their futures.”

Congratulations to: Kensa Bennallick, Sam Berne,  Tyler Bradbury, Georgie Butler, Liam Champion, Joel Cherrington, Josh Clarke, Emily Geach, Bryony Gubbins, Harley Hills, Emily Joyce, Reece Mayo, Tiryn Moss, Joe Moynan, Oliver Parry, Chloe Penhaligan, Sasha Riddle, Lily Roberts, Guy Schooling, Reece Stoneman, Leah Strevens, Hollie Titchner, Ollie Trevarthen, Will Trevarthen, Louie Webb, Thomas Young and Lena Zalick.
