Building on our outstanding A Level results, our GCSE students have done brilliantly. Over 35% of students gained a top grade of A/A* or the new top grades of 7, 8 and 9 in the newly graded GCSEs*. Special mention must be given to Elspeth Payne scoring nine grade 9s, plus an A* for good measure!

Headteacher, Alex Lingard, said “We are absolutely delighted with our students’ results. We wait to hear how other schools have done nationally, but we think the students have made excellent progress compared to other students across the country. The students have handled the changes to the GCSEs, and the pressure that comes with the numerous exams they now have to take, incredibly well. I’d like to congratulate every single one of them.”

James O’Connell, Deputy Head, said “I’d like to congratulate all our students for their hard work and resilience. With all the changes to GCSEs and A Levels the staff and students have worked incredibly hard and it’s great to see it all pay off with some amazing results. This school is going from strength to strength.”

*We are in a new era where students have undertaken the new GCSEs in the majority of subjects.  The remaining subjects follow next year.  The new GCSEs are graded 1-9 where a Grade 4 is broadly equivalent to the old C grade and is known as a ‘Standard Pass’.  A Grade 5 is known as a ‘Strong Pass’.  A Grade 7 is broadly equivalent to the old A grade and a Grade 8 to the old A*.  A Grade 9 is even higher than an old A*.
