This year’s 15th annual exhibition concludes another exciting year for students studying Art, Design and Photography at Liskeard School & Community College. One hundred and four students exhibited work of the highest standard; demonstrating great aesthetic sensitivity, visual intelligence, energy and excitement within the work.

The exhibition showcased breadth and diversity of personal interest, skills and creative risk taking. Themes ranged from being personal, satirically challenging and politically thought provoking in content to having an academic approach to more traditional genres. As in previous years, work being exhibited demonstrated a sensitivity and perceptive, visual literacy in the way students have rendered their artwork; practical processes have been applied in a discerning manner to make new meaning and convey understanding within the context of art history. There is a sense that students have balanced the need to take creative risks with the demands of resolving work technically; as a consequence, finished work has a confident, independent, visually intelligent, personal response.

The Creative and Performing Arts team congratulated all of its students on another amazingly creative year.

“GCSE, AS and A Level courses, the school production, various ensembles, performances, use of our aerial rig, exhibitions, workshops for all Key Stages, Arts Award, visits to exhibitions and performances in London, trips to the theatre and numerous Universities, work at the local Trench production, not to mention the opportunity of working with visiting artists have really enriched and inspired our school community throughout the year.

“We all look forward to results day in the summer in the knowledge that the quality of creative work has been outstanding. Well done to all who have exhibited and performed their work for public appreciation and critique. All those who have exhibited personal work will acknowledge, it is always a brave and reflective process and one which you should be immensely proud of. We wish all those students moving onto further education, arts degrees and Foundation courses all the very best for the start of term in September and beyond,” they said.
