Another group of students from Liskeard School and Community College completed the practice Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition on another fine weekend.

Twenty-one students formed three groups of 13 to 15-year-olds to tackle the 9 mile route on day 1, taking them along the south west coast path from Polruan to Talland Bay.

They then headed north back to Liskeard and hoe on the Sunday. Carrying heavy packs - for most for the first time – is no mean feat and the students did brilliantly. Most importantly they enjoyed it, and their team spirit and positive attitudes were particularly impressive.

Both of our practice expeditions have used West Wayland campsite, who have very generously offered the campsite for free, preferring the money to go back into the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

James O’Connell, Deputy Head, said: “The students were great ambassadors for our school. What really impressed me was the way they looked after and supported each other, and maintained a great sense of humour throughout. We’re really grateful to West Wayland for letting us stay at their campsite for free, allowing us to put this money back into our Duke of Edinburgh programme and ensuring our students have the best experience possible.”
